No, really, why are we “here?”
This universe is very simple, with only one rule: Everything strives to
be more than it is.
In the beginning, there was nothing, not even something for there to
be nothing in. But nothing strives to be more than it is, and has only one
option, become something. And so somewere in this nothing, this yearning
succeeded, and there was born a swirling bit of chaos, the most basic bit
of something that can be. In it’s turn, the chaos strove to be more that
what it was, and somewhere within it, order was instilled, creating a place
where there could be ‘places’ as well as ‘times’ and ‘things’ (essentially
this is where we enter into the Big Bang model of the universe). Within
the universe was a vast amount of energy left from the chaos. This energy
under our simple rule looked to become more than just energy, and followed
what had come before, becoming more ordered and became the first simple matter,
which then came together as hydrogen, the most simple of atoms. The atoms
clumped together, forming large galaxys, which came together to form even
larger clusters. But yet, at the same time, the striving was operating at
a more interesting level, within these galaxies, the atoms were coming
together even more, forming stars, and opening a different path from the
great intergalactic structures. Within the stars, hydrogen itself was becoming
something more, other heavier elements. In time, these atoms were sent off
to form new stars, and for the first time, planets, creating a new level of
structure and order. One one of these planets, the atoms there, through their
constant reaching for something more than just being atoms found that first
spark of life. Life was amazingly suited (or perhaps not, being created after
so many steps with our one rule) to strive to be more, radiating out everywhere
it could be. Beyond all these possible forms, there was still more life could
be, and in time it found greater and greater self-awareness, and the ability
to shape it’s own world, with the end result being, so far, humans.
